Aquastar

Despite being one of the most innovative and progressive watch companies of the 1960’s and 1970’s, there was very little known about Aquastar until now.

In late 2020 the company was resurrected and released a new version of the iconic Deepstar dive watch.

To coincide with this event, A Dive Into Time was also published. It is not just a comprehensive history of the first 20 years of the Aquastar brand but also a time capsule which gives a fascinating look into the history of diving and underwater exploration during its formative years.

If you are an Aquastar fan, a vintage watch enthusiast or just interested in diving history, you will want this book.

And now there is Anatomy of a Design which takes a deep dive into the concepts, designs and rationale behind the vintage and modern versions of the Aquastar 60, Deepstar and Benthos 500.

Not only does this book explore the variations of the vintage watches and reasons for the changes in design during their production timelines but it gives an insight in what it took for Aquastar to bring the modern versions to market.

Although Anatomy of a Design was published almost 4 years after A Dive Into Time, it is not an updated version of the first book. Realistically, it compliments A Dive Into Time with some updated information but it also takes the reader in a new direction by discussing the reasons behind initial designs and then subsequent changes in the vintage and modern watches.
